The Pantry in New Haven

Excellent Breakfast in New Haven. The cinnamon swirl #pancakes are decadent and delicious. So many things I love about the Pantry including 1) You can get a bowl full of Strawberries! 2) When you order eggs over medium, they're actually eggs over medium. 3) Home fries rock! They use high quality and fresh ingredients. Staff is exceptional and always happy to see you.CASH ONLY! As of January 2020, they only accept cash. As people spend 18% more when using credit cards, I hope they will change this policy some day, but it doesn't make me love them any less.

*cash only* What a delightful little spot. We went at a busy time (Saturday at around 11am). Despite there being a line of about 10 people in front of us we were seated in less than 15 minutes. The staff was warm and helpful. The cinnamon pancake was phenomenal and the omelet was also delicious. I’d highly recommend this fun brunch spot.

Yeah, so this review is posted with trepidation. We went to The Pantry on the back of some VERY high recommendations. And look, the staff were very good and the music was cool (Chick Corea) and the coffee was fine (and bottomless) and my mate had good food. But my “Fancy French Toast” (done on French bread) just wasn’t cooked. The cinnamon was basically still raw and the whole pieces were soft and a bit soggy.

Delicious breakfast food - pancakes, homefries, and eggs benedict are top notch! The employees and owner are also friendly and welcoming and the restaurant itself is very cozy. I highly recommend!

In addition to the food being delicious, it is interesting. The menu includes quality ingredients and combinations you will not find everywhere. And they will make you dishes not on the menu. My favorite is the everything omlette. And the potatoes are the best ever. Combined with good coffee and a welcoming wait staff, its a great choice. We have been going for over 10 years.

First we walk in and were abruptly told to only sit at a small table, then we overheard our neighbor table get told there is no substituting the grapefruit. Nice inviting atmosphere <sarc. Also, there is no reason to not except credit cards in a city, customers will happily pay the small upcharge for the convenience. Oh wait, they have an ATM machine that probably charges the customer 3 dollars to use and I bet they get a cut of that! I am sure it is easier to cook the books when you have cash only restaurant, maybe I am a little jealous, who knows?

drove down from Boston solely because of my past good experience. this place used to be much better in terms of taste, service, kindness and effectiveness. I know it was a hectic day there but I could see multiple people, including us, were frustrated with the servers. + the omelette was awfully salty - they must have spilled the olive pickle juice or something.. hopefully by mistake. taking down 3 stars from my past review.

The food was AMAZING! The pancakes are so soft and crispy and the egg benedict was so delicious and the plate enough to fill you up and keep you full for long. The staff were amazing and efficient. Quick service. LOVED IT.
